According to Bild, the first units of special forces and reconnaissance from Europe have arrived on the island to participate in the exercises.

In the evening, a Hercules military transport aircraft belonging to the Danish army landed at the civilian airport in Nuuk. It is reported that onboard were not only Danish military personnel but also representatives from France.

The exercises, organized at Denmark's request, will take place as part of Operation "Arctic Resilience" from January 15 to 17. The main task of the military will be to carry out reconnaissance missions and assess capabilities to enhance security in this strategically important region. It is also expected that 13 soldiers from a German reconnaissance group will arrive in Greenland today. According to Bild, the operation is being managed from Copenhagen, not through NATO, and the United States will not participate.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated that the kingdom has been unable to convince the U.S. to abandon the idea of acquiring Greenland. This statement followed his talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. Nevertheless, Copenhagen expressed its readiness to discuss any issues related to the island's security with Washington.

U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized his interest in controlling Greenland, citing national security concerns, and on Wednesday stated his intention to protect the island from the influence of Russia and China. However, the authorities of Denmark and Greenland have made it clear that the issue of transferring the island to the U.S. is not up for discussion.
