The local branch of RGP "Kazvodkhoz" carried out the first mechanized cleaning of the main canals K-21 and K-34 in recent decades, while work continues on canal K-25.
The K-21 canal, which is one of the largest in the region, irrigates 20,000 hectares of agricultural land across three districts. A complete cleaning of its 22.8-kilometer length was carried out using special equipment. This event is significant as such work had not been done here for over 40 years.
As for canal K-34, its total length is 18.5 kilometers, and cleaning of the lower part of this facility was planned for a length of 7.5 kilometers. In previous growing seasons, there were problems with water transportation here, but now the cleaning work has been completed.
The K-25 canal, which is 28.2 kilometers long, provides irrigation for 13,000 hectares in three rural districts of the Zhetysay region. Currently, mechanized cleaning of a 10-kilometer section is underway using five units of special equipment, and so far 4 kilometers have been cleared.
"The Ministry has done significant work to provide the branches of 'Kazvodkhoz' with new modern equipment — about 600 units have been supplied. All conditions have been created for the quality implementation of planned projects. It is important to complete the cleaning of the canals before the start of the growing season so that farmers receive timely and quality water supply," noted Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
Residents of the region expressed their gratitude to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, as well as the Turkestan branch of RGP "Kazvodkhoz" for the work carried out.
"Last year, due to silt and vegetation, there were difficulties with water supply along canal K-34. Now, after the work has been completed, the canal is fully cleared. We hope that this year farmers will not face water supply problems. Previously, such work was not carried out due to a lack of equipment, but thanks to the efforts of the ministry, this opportunity has arisen," shared his opinion a resident of the village of Temirzhol in the Zhetysay district, Sakhtilla Temiraliyev.
