The ministry reports a risk of water resource shortage
The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Russia has warned farmers about a possible shortage of irrigation water during the growing season of 2026.
According to the agency's information, climate change and a decrease in precipitation levels may lead to a shortage of water resources in some regions of the country. In this regard, agricultural producers are advised to organize the rational use of available water in advance.
The ministry noted that it is advisable to implement technologies that allow for water conservation, such as drip and sprinkler irrigation, as well as to choose agricultural crops that require less moisture and to use drought-resistant seed varieties.
In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that during the irrigation period, water will be distributed fairly and balanced.
