At its meeting on February 24, the Committee on Labor, Health, Women's Affairs, and Social Issues discussed and approved the draft law "On Amending the Law on Medical Insurance for Citizens in the Kyrgyz Republic" in its second reading.

Gulsunkhan Junushalieva, the chairwoman of the committee and deputy of district No. 29, reported that this draft law is designed to extend mandatory medical insurance to citizens through medical institutions that have contracts with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund under the Ministry of Health. It also includes the provision of free and subsidized medical services for certain groups of the population.

Among the proposed innovations is the establishment of preferential conditions for children under 18 years old, as well as for students of vocational schools and higher educational institutions up to 21 years old, with funding from the republican budget. It should be noted that according to current legislation, this age limit is set at 16 years.
