At the parliament meeting on February 25, Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Elvira Surabaldiyeva proposed to consider the possibility of constructing a multidisciplinary hospital in the western part of Bishkek.

She noted that the existing City Hospital No. 1, located on a plot of about 1 hectare, occupies the site of former medical institutions — a narcological and a psychoneurological dispensary, which are now in a deplorable state.

According to the deputy, the population of the nearby new buildings and the Kyzyl-Asker area exceeds 30,000–40,000 people; however, there is no modern hospital in this area. This forces people to seek medical assistance in the city center, including at the republican hospital, which creates additional difficulties, especially in conditions of traffic jams and a growing population.

Surabaldiyeva proposed to create a modern medical complex in this area that could significantly relieve the central medical institutions. She emphasized that it would be possible to construct a large complex up to 14 stories high, as was done for the law enforcement agencies.

The deputy also pointed out the importance of addressing staffing issues in the healthcare system, emphasizing the need for careful selection of specialists.

In response to the proposal, Acting Minister of Health Damirbek Osmonov agreed that the initiative is indeed aimed at addressing an urgent problem. He noted that about 34,000 residents are forced to travel to the city center for medical services, which adds extra strain on urban hospitals and causes inconvenience for the population.

Osmonov added that this issue will be studied and taken into account moving forward.
