The Minister of Health visited the National Hospital and the Scientific Center for Human Reproduction in Bishkek

On February 28, 2026, the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, Damirbek Osmonov, visited several medical institutions in Bishkek. During the visit, he familiarized himself with the state of medical infrastructure and the conditions for providing assistance. This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

At the National Hospital, Osmonov checked the operation of the emergency department and the facilities where renovation work is currently taking place.

The chief physician of the National Hospital, Bakyt Tologonov, reported that the renovation of the intensive care unit is nearing completion, and the renovation of the building for the reference laboratory is planned to be completed by the end of April.

The establishment of the reference laboratory is being carried out with the support of the Asian Development Bank and aims to create a unified laboratory base for hospitals in the capital. This will allow the National Hospital to conduct laboratory tests centrally, significantly improving the quality of diagnostics and implementing unified standards. The project will be implemented over the course of a year; after the renovation is completed, equipment will be installed and personnel will be trained for the full operation of the laboratory.

In addition, the minister reviewed the work of the central emergency department, which has been operational for more than a year and a half and has established itself as a sought-after service. Directions for further improving its operations were identified, including the creation of a shock room and the enhancement of departmental equipment, as well as continuous ECG monitoring for patients in the intensive care unit.

The next stop of the visit was the Kyrgyz Scientific Center for Human Reproduction, where the center's management presented information about current activities, available resources, and challenges in the field of reproductive health.

As a result of the visit, the minister instructed the center's management to develop specific proposals aimed at improving maternal health indicators and strengthening the scientific potential of the institution.
