The issue of the need to revise state support for families with children was raised in the Parliament
At a recent meeting of the united deputy groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too," parliamentarian Akylbek Tumonbaev emphasized the importance of revising the existing system of benefits for families with children.
He noted that despite the existence of legislation on state benefits, the real support provided to families with children in Kyrgyzstan remains insufficient and does not meet the needs of the population.
“The amount of the benefit at the birth of a child is only 4,000 soms, and the monthly assistance for needy families is 1,200 soms. This is completely inadequate to meet the real needs of families,” Tumonbaev stressed.
The deputy also reported that in order to ensure equal conditions for all children, the deputy groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too" have developed a draft law that proposes the payment of benefits to all children under 12 years old. At the same time, support for low-income families with children up to 16 years old will remain in effect.
According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration, currently, 163,592 children from low-income families receive benefits, while the total number of children under 12 years old in the country exceeds 1.8 million.
“We believe that it is necessary to change the mechanism for assigning benefits to ensure an equal level of payments to all children in the country, regardless of their families' financial situation,” the deputy added.
Additionally, Akylbek Tumonbaev proposed to introduce additional social assistance for mothers with children in the amount of 5,000 soms, considering their contribution to demographic development and the upbringing of the younger generation.
