This report is an important tool for assessing Kyrgyzstan's fulfillment of international environmental commitments, particularly the provisions of the Kunming-Montreal Global Framework. In 2026, this report will be presented at the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be the official contribution of the republic to the global assessment of environmental achievements. The project was implemented within the framework of the National Development Program until 2030, where the management of natural resources is designated as one of the key priorities.
The discussion involved representatives of government agencies, scientists, and international experts who analyzed the expansion of the network of protected natural areas, forest restoration processes, and measures to protect rare species, including the snow leopard. During the conversation, attention was also drawn to the risks of climate change and the need to integrate environmental issues into the education system and state governance.
The preparation of the Seventh National Report provided an important platform for uniting the efforts of the state and the civil society sector. This process was supported by the global UNDP-GEF initiative aimed at assisting countries in updating biodiversity conservation strategies. Experts note that the validation of the report is not only a summary but also the creation of a foundation for long-term financial and institutional solutions for the protection of Kyrgyzstan's unique nature.
