Fines for illegal import of goods across the border have been doubled

The responsibility for transporting goods without documents has become significantly stricter

The State Tax Service of the Kyrgyz Republic has announced an increase in fines for the illegal import of goods and vehicles across the borders of the Eurasian Economic Union countries.

Now, the fines for individuals have increased from 10,000 to 20,000 soms, while for legal entities, they have risen from 28,000 to 65,000 soms.

In the case of repeated violations within one year, the fines will increase even more: individuals will be required to pay 40,000 soms, while legal entities will have to pay 100,000 soms. There is also a risk of confiscation of illegally imported goods.

According to the tax service, the most common violations are recorded at the "Ak-Zhol" checkpoint at the border with Kazakhstan. Typically, cosmetics, medications, supplements, cigarettes, mobile phones, vapes, and electronic cigarettes are attempted to be transported without documents.

The agency strongly recommends complying with the legislation and properly documenting all goods to avoid hefty fines and loss of property.
