The annual electricity deficit in Kyrgyzstan reached 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours

At a recent meeting of the Ministry of Energy, it was revealed that the annual electricity deficit in Kyrgyzstan has reached 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours.

In 2025, the republic consumed 19.3 billion kilowatt-hours, while its own production amounted to only 15.4 billion.

The main sources of energy include large hydroelectric power stations, which generated 12.9 billion kilowatt-hours, thermal power stations — 2.01 billion, small hydropower plants — 0.223 billion, and renewable sources — 0.234 billion.

To meet the country's needs, 3.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were imported from neighboring states.

There was also an upgrade of existing hydropower stations, which allowed for an increase in their capacity by 69 megawatts.
