At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee held on January 19, 2026, Deputy Marlen Mamataliyev expressed his position on the need to strengthen control over products marked with the halal sign.

As an example, he cited sausage products sold with this labeling.

According to the parliamentarian, in order for the products to truly meet halal standards, the meat used in sausage production must come exclusively from animals slaughtered in strict accordance with halal requirements.

“Currently, many producers simply stick on the halal sign, and it is unclear whether their products actually meet the declared standards,” Mamataliyev stated.

He also proposed implementing a traceability system for meat products, which would allow tracking the journey from the animal's slaughter to the finished product on the store shelf. This innovation will help ensure compliance with halal norms and protect consumer interests.

The discussion of this issue took place within the framework of the committee's work focused on the development of entrepreneurship and competition.
