Turkmenistan has ceded first place to Russia in gas supplies to China

In 2024, Turkmenistan exported gas to China worth $9.57 billion, while Russia exported $8.03 billion. Following them are Myanmar ($1.39 billion), Kazakhstan ($1.36 billion), and Uzbekistan ($726 million).

The GTS does not provide data on the physical volume of pipeline gas purchased by China from abroad.

Gas from Turkmenistan reaches China through three branches of the Central Asia – China pipeline, known as "A," "B," and "C." All three lines have a total length of 1,833 kilometers and run parallel along the route Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan – China, with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
