Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova, representing district No. 3, drew attention to the problems of atmospheric pollution and the potential for acid rain caused by the geopolitical situation in the world. This statement was made on March 9 during a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with agricultural policy, water resources, subsoil use, ecology, and environmental protection.

During the meeting, information was reviewed regarding the activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision for the year 2025.

Mavlyanova pointed out that global geopolitical events could negatively impact the ecological situation in Kyrgyzstan. She cited examples of reports indicating that strikes on oil refineries in the Middle East could lead to chemicals entering the atmosphere.

“Recent strikes by Israel on oil refineries in Iran have resulted in data on emissions of chemicals into the atmosphere. This has raised concerns about the possibility of acid rain during precipitation,” the deputy noted.

She also inquired whether Kyrgyzstan has the technical capabilities to monitor such ecological phenomena and whether it is possible to determine which regions of the country may be susceptible to such precipitation.

In response, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Asel Rayimkulova stated that the ministry does not engage in such monitoring. As she clarified, the observation of atmospheric processes is carried out by the "Kyrgyzhydromet" service, which has automated stations for monitoring.

In conclusion, the deputy suggested bringing this issue to the government's discussion to explore the possibilities for more thorough monitoring of ecological risks.
