According to data published by the British publication The Economist, Donald Trump's approval rating during his second presidential term has fallen to a record low. This data was obtained from a survey conducted by YouGov at the link.

In the survey, only 38 percent of respondents expressed a positive opinion about the president's performance, while 56 percent expressed dissatisfaction.

Thus, the difference between those who support Trump and those who do not is 18 percentage points. For comparison, at the beginning of his second term, this figure was only 2 percent.

The authors of the study also emphasize the negative dynamics of public opinion. On the 378th day of Trump's presidency, only 31 percent of citizens believed that the country was moving in the right direction, which is 6 percent lower than previous figures. At the same time, the number of those who believe that the U.S. is heading in the wrong direction increased from 50 to 60 percent.

Particular attention is paid to the decline in support for Trump among independent voters, who are an important electoral group. According to YouGov, the president's approval rating among independent voters has reached record lows during his second term.

Analysts attribute the drop in ratings to Americans' dissatisfaction with the fulfillment of two key campaign promises made by Trump — tackling inflation and ending illegal immigration.

The majority of respondents believe that the administration has not achieved significant success in either of these areas.

Furthermore, negative perceptions of foreign policy decisions also affect public opinion. According to several surveys, nearly half of Americans are dissatisfied with the White House's position on international security issues, including its strategy regarding the war in Ukraine.

Experts note that the high level of public discontent at the beginning of the second term may complicate the implementation of presidential initiatives and strengthen the opposition's influence in Congress ahead of the midterm elections.
