At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 5, Deputy Prime Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev announced plans to create an interagency commission to ensure transparency in the distribution of trading spots at the new Osh market.

Deputy Kongantiev drew attention to the statement by Kanibek Tumanbaev, head of the Department of Affairs, that 916 spots would be allocated for traders at the new market. However, according to the information from the Leninsky district administration, about 8,500 people are working at the old market.

The Deputy Prime Minister admitted that he does not have accurate information about the number of workers. Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev added that some traders operate without registration. He reported that the city hall and the Department of Affairs have already compiled preliminary lists for the allocation of spots.

“The commission determines the total number. Among the traders, there are those who work illegally, and it even happens that several relatives trade at the same spot simultaneously. We have been tasked with creating a clear list of those who have the official right to trade,” Aliyev explained.

Amangeldiev emphasized the need to relocate the Osh market to another location for the development of the city. Kongantiev agreed but added that many traders are concerned about the future relocation and do not know where to turn with their questions. He noted that renting trading spots at the old market often costs as much as real estate, which raises additional concerns regarding the principles of distribution at the new market.

“I have a suggestion. It turns out that the project is managed by the Department of Affairs, the city hall determines the number of spots, and the Ministry of Construction answers questions. Can you indicate whom people should contact? It is necessary to create an interagency commission that includes all instances that can provide information so that people have clarity on where to go and ask questions. Because the district administration and city hall do not have information, and it is difficult to reach the Department of Affairs,” said the deputy.

Amangeldiev agreed with his proposal and confirmed that such a commission would be organized.
