According to Sergey Vakunov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kyrgyzstan, the provision of grants for students from Kyrgyzstan will be an important step towards increasing the number of students studying at Russian universities. He stated this in an interview with the "Russia 24" channel.

Currently, approximately 10,000 Kyrgyz students are studying in Russian educational institutions, of which 4,500 are receiving education on a budgetary basis.

“Starting from 2025, we plan to begin providing grants that will cover housing expenses and other personal needs, including educational costs. This will serve as an additional incentive for the youth of Kyrgyzstan to continue their education in Russia after completing high school,” the ambassador noted.

He also emphasized that the construction of a new campus for the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) will be a central project aimed at strengthening the position of Russian education in Kyrgyzstan. Vakunov added that funding has already been allocated from the Russian side and a land plot has been provided in Bishkek, where students will be able to both live and study.
