Rector of the Academy of Tourism: Without practice, a graduate is not ready for the profession

The Academy of Tourism is a private educational institution focused on training professionals in the fields of tourism, service, and hospitality. Educational programs here are developed with consideration of labor market needs, emphasizing practical training for students and active interaction with employers. The Academy offers courses in areas such as tourism, management, hospitality, international relations, and linguistics, which helps to form a comprehensive understanding of the industry. The rector of the university, Melis Chormonov, shared his views on education, practice, and the main tasks for the development of the Academy with the publication VB.KG.

- Am I correct in understanding that this is the official name of your educational institution?

- Yes, that's right. We are officially named the Academy of Tourism, which reflects both our status and our focus on preparing specialists for the tourism industry and related fields.

- Is the Academy a private university?

- Yes, it is a private higher educational institution. This format provides us with flexibility in updating educational programs and allows us to respond quickly to changes in the tourism sector while adhering to state educational standards.

- How many areas of training are offered at the Academy?

- Our institution implements programs in five main areas: tourism, management, hospitality, international relations, and linguistics. All these fields are interconnected, as tourism cannot be viewed in isolation; it encompasses management, service, international cooperation, and language training. Therefore, we have developed a comprehensive training system.

- What have you focused on at the Academy in recent years?

- We have primarily focused on the development and constant updating of educational programs to meet the expectations of our key consumers—employers in the tourism sector. Since this industry is rapidly evolving, programs must continuously adapt to the real needs of the market.

- What do you think is important for employers when hiring graduates?

- Employers are looking for not only theoretical knowledge but also the graduate's readiness to quickly adapt to real working conditions. Therefore, we focus on combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. We strive to integrate education with real professional activities as much as possible within the framework of state standards.

- How is practice organized for students?

- We have established cooperation with tourism organizations for which we prepare specialists. We also have our own sports and tourism campus outside the city, where infrastructure related to tourism and service has been created, including cafes, recreation areas, and sports facilities such as golf courses. One of the study days, students dedicate to practice at this campus, and another day they work in cafes, restaurants, tourism companies, and other specialized organizations. This helps to link theory with real work.

-What is the significance of combining study and work?

- We support students in understanding how to best build their careers and where to gain practical experience. After working in practice, students discuss their achievements in classrooms, analyze their experiences, and exchange opinions. This is an important element of the educational process.

- What are the Academy's plans for the future?

- We are focused on the employment of students. Our goal is to ensure that as many students as possible undergo internships and find jobs in quality and sought-after tourism companies. The effectiveness of our work is determined by the number and level of these internships and job placements.

- Which organizations do you collaborate with?

- We work with various educational institutions and enterprises in the tourism sector. Cooperation is formed as needed, and we are always open to new partnerships.

- Is there an opportunity for students to intern abroad?

- Yes, such an opportunity exists, but we do not insist on directing students strictly to certain countries. We focus on market conditions, and students choose their own paths. Our task is to provide them with the tools and knowledge for successful implementation anywhere in the world.

- What difficulties might students face?

- They face the same challenges as other young professionals in the labor market. Some may not get a job, while others receive several offers at once. It all depends on individual preparation, motivation, and personal qualities of the students.

- Does the Academy engage in the employment of graduates?

- We do not engage in direct employment. Our main task is to prepare students so that they can independently find work. We provide consultation and guidance, but the responsibility for choice and career lies with the graduates.

- What is necessary to improve the quality of higher education as a whole?

- Legislation in the field of education is constantly being updated, and this is the right approach. The world has accumulated significant experience in training specialists and in the interaction of education with production. It is important that our educational system meets these global standards.

- What are your wishes for the Academy and students?

- We wish for students to successfully find employment both during their studies and after graduation, to feel confident in their profession, and to be satisfied with their life choices.
