
A new eco-technological plant for the disposal of solid household waste has been opened in Bishkek, resulting from an investment of $95 million. This was reported by the mayor of the capital, Aibek Dzhunushaliev, at a recent meeting. The plant is capable of processing up to 365,000 tons of waste annually, starting with 1,000 tons per day in the first phase, and generates 30 MW of electricity, significantly improving the ecological and energy situation in the city.
The project "Electrification of Urban Transport," supported by the Asian Development Bank, includes the supply of 120 electric buses, as well as the modernization of bus depots and the installation of 85 electric charging stations. The total cost of this project is $59.55 million. In addition, within the framework of the "Green Cities 2, Window 2" program, 124 gas buses were purchased with the help of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and in 2025, it is planned to acquire another 95 units, with a total project amount of 33 million euros.
Construction of a new complex of buildings has begun on the site of the "Ak-Kula" hippodrome, for which an agreement was signed with the Vietnamese company OsOO "RCA Living" for over $300 million. Also, as part of a public-private partnership, the modernization of the city's wastewater treatment facilities is being carried out with investments of $56 million.
In 2025, work began on the reconstruction of wastewater treatment facilities, also financed under a public-private partnership scheme, amounting to $56 million.
Additionally, the mayor noted that together with OsOO "Invest KJ Holding," project documentation is being developed for the construction of facilities for the municipal enterprise "Tazalyk," as well as an apartment hotel and a public-business center, with a total budget of 2.6 billion soms.
As part of initiatives to improve ecology, plans are in place to create a modern nursery and greenhouse farm on an area of 48 hectares with funding of $1 million. The project aims to provide the city annually with quality planting materials, including 1,000 seedlings of trees and shrubs, as well as 800,000 units of annual flower seedlings, which will contribute to the development of green infrastructure and the beautification of the capital.
Additionally, work continues on a number of large investment projects, including the construction of a multifunctional complex by OsOO Hyper Partners with a total investment of over $300 million.
The construction of the residential complex "Optima" is also underway, which includes the creation of a park zone, a pedestrian promenade, and socio-cultural facilities with funding of 1.2 billion soms.
In conclusion, a final meeting of the Bishkek city mayor's office was held at the "Tunguch" theater, where under the leadership of the chairman of the cabinet of ministers - head of the president's administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev, the results of the socio-economic development of the city for 2025 and plans for 2026 were discussed.
