Bishkek's grocery basket for February 14. What has increased the most in price
Over the past week, there has been a rise in prices for products such as tomatoes, peppers, apples, and vegetable oil in Bishkek. At the same time, cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, pears, and sugar have become cheaper.

The cost of the minimum grocery set has increased by 106 soms, reaching a total of 7 thousand 338 soms.

Every week, we analyze prices for the same set of products in the supermarket. Below is detailed information about which items are included in our basket and what influenced this.

It should be noted that prices in stores and markets can vary significantly. Often, stores have promotions on certain products with discounts.

Our analysis data shows that since the beginning of our monitoring in late October 2018, the cost of the grocery basket has increased by 4 thousand 68 soms. Since the beginning of this year, it has risen by 615 soms, and compared to similar data from 2025, it has increased by 1 thousand 272 soms.

Currently, the most affordable product in our basket remains bread. Prices for fresh vegetables and fruits have the greatest impact on the overall cost of the set.

In 2025, the cost of the grocery basket increased by 686 soms. The minimum price was recorded on October 18 — 5 thousand 791 soms, and the maximum was on December 6, amounting to 6 thousand 927 soms.

Back in 2009, the government approved nutritional norms for the citizens of Kyrgyzstan. According to these norms, each resident must include nine types of products in their diet every month.

The approved norms include: 9 kilograms of bread, 5 kilograms of meat, 8.2 kilograms of potatoes, 9 kilograms of vegetables, 10 kilograms of fruits and berries, 2 kilograms of sugar, 17 liters of milk, 1 liter of vegetable oil, 4 eggs, 100 grams of fish, and 200 grams of tea.

Taking into account the minimum norms established by the state, we assessed the cost of the consumer basket for a family of four. We based our calculations on prices for products in one of the supermarkets in Bishkek. Many city residents increasingly prefer to shop in large retail chains.

Of course, the calculations for food consumption are approximate and based on the norms approved by the state. Not all families have the same dietary preferences — some do not consume meat, while others prefer to avoid sugar. Therefore, our basket should not be perceived as the only correct model. It is more of a social experiment from 24.kg.

Grain products include both bread and pasta and cereals. Our family, representing the average consumer, prefers apples and bananas for fruits, and for vegetables — onions, carrots, peppers, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes. No extravagances, just the most necessary products.
