At today's meeting of the permanent commission of the Bishkek City Council, dedicated to issues of municipal property and urban planning, Deputy Kazybek Ergeshov once again raised the topic of increasing rental rates for land located in municipal markets.

It was previously reported that representatives of the municipal enterprise "City Road and Transport Infrastructure" established a new rate, which has increased by 20 percent.

At the meeting, it became known that in 2025, the enterprise's revenue plan was exceeded: instead of the planned 110 million soms, 139.4 million was collected. Taking into account the increase in rates, a new plan of 153 million soms has been set for 2026.

“Why put so much pressure on businesses? You have already exceeded the plan, and now you want to burden entrepreneurs even more. This is just suffocating them. Are you planning to cover the gaps at the expense of the 'Oberon' market?” — expressed discontent Kazybek Ergeshov.

The deputy director of the municipal enterprise explained that part of the collected funds is planned to be directed towards improving the markets, including roof repairs and replacing old transformers.

Deputy Talaybek Daiyrbekov also expressed agreement with Ergeshov's opinion.

“Why are you increasing the rental fee if you haven't invested a single ruble? Where is your logic? You shouldn't try to change everything at the expense of entrepreneurs. You didn't build the 'Oberon' market; it was done by businessmen. Yes, it was taken away by court decision, but we must understand the times we live in. Everyone remembers how the market was taken, and I see no sense in raising the rent. Yesterday at a meeting in Osh, the head of the cabinet said that we cannot put pressure on business, and he is right. Let's then collectively file a complaint about your actions,” he added.

Daiyrbekov also noted that the population is complaining about rising prices for food and other goods.

“Everything starts with an increase in rental fees. Do you think sellers will cover this out of their own pockets? No, all these expenses will be reflected in the final cost of goods. Before introducing new rates, think about who will ultimately bear these costs. As a result, the population will turn to the president with complaints about the unjustified actions of municipal officials,” the deputy concluded.

In 2024, it was reported that the markets of LLC "Oberon Dordoy" and "Oberon Orto-Sai" would be returned to the state.
