The initiators emphasize that the project will significantly improve transport links with neighboring countries.
At a meeting of the Committee on Industrial Policy, Transport, Architecture, Construction, and the Fuel and Energy Complex, a draft law on the construction of a bridge over the Naryn River on the Bishkek–Osh highway was presented.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Ulukbek Zhanibekov spoke about the goals of the project, which aims to improve transport communication between Kyrgyzstan and its neighbors.
“The construction of the bridge will take place in the Toktogul district of the Jalal-Abad region at the 315th kilometer of the Bishkek–Osh road. The Japanese government is allocating a grant of 3.39 billion Japanese yen (approximately 20.4 million dollars) for this project,” the speaker reported.
The agenda also included a draft law on the ratification of the Financing Agreement with the Eurasian Development Bank for the project "Improvement of Roads in the City of Osh" in its first reading.
Ulukbek Zhanibekov noted that there is a serious problem with traffic congestion in Osh. In this regard, studies have been conducted, and the possibility of opening a new road on Babraimov Street, connecting Tursunbaev Street and the new market, is currently being considered.
As part of this draft law, the construction of two overpass bridges with a total length of 3.2 kilometers is planned in Osh.
The total cost of this project will be 19.2 million dollars. Of this amount, 14.15 million dollars will be provided as a loan from the Eurasian Development Bank, 1.2 million dollars as a grant from the same bank, and the remaining 3.9 million dollars will be allocated from the republican budget.
Committee members supported both draft laws following the discussions.
