The Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic will finance the construction of 6 hydropower plants and 1 solar power plant for 21.6 billion soms

These projects will help eliminate about 16% of the electricity shortage in the country.


The Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the Ministry of Finance, is starting to finance the construction of six hydropower plants and one solar power plant. This information was provided by the Ministry of Finance.

The total investment in these projects will amount to 21.6 billion soms. The installed capacity of the new facilities will reach 148.3 MW, and their expected annual electricity generation will be 629.7 million kWh.

According to the department's data, these initiatives will help to cover approximately 16% of the existing electricity deficit in the country and strengthen the resilience of the national energy system.

The projects are being implemented within the framework of the agreed state investment strategy. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for macro-financial coordination and creating a resource base, while the Development Bank acts as the operator of long-term project financing.
