The village of Ak-Shyyrak, located in the Jeti-Oguz district, is characterized by its unique location in the mountain range zone.

According to Erlan Asanaliev, a local resident, Ak-Shyyrak was founded in 1918. The village council was formed in 1930, which facilitated the opening of a primary school. In 1935, the 1st of May collective farm was established, and in 1962, the village of Uch-Koshkon and the Ak-Shyyrak village council were created by the Geological Department of the USSR.

The village is located 270 km from the district center, with Mount Eshek-Art on its northern side, while the southern side features the mountains Boor-Albas and Ak-Zoo.

The climate here is harsh: in winter, temperatures can drop to -40 degrees, while summer remains cool.

In Ak-Shyyrak, there is a boarding school, two rural health posts (FAPs), a cultural center, a hotel, and a public bath, as well as other social institutions. The village is home to over 300 families.

In 2014, a yak breeding enterprise was established, and work is currently underway to increase their numbers. The residents primarily engage in livestock farming.

During the pandemic, local authorities provided food deliveries to minimize residents' trips to the district center.

According to one legend, the name Ak-Shyyrak comes from the characteristics of the land, where white (Ak) bones of the limbs (shyyrak) of wild and domestic animals were found mixed with clay.

According to another version, a young man working for a wealthy man receives a foal as a reward for his labor. This animal later becomes a well-known racehorse and is named "Ak-Shyyrak" (which translates to "White Legs"). The village is named after this horse.
