According to information provided by the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, a mass poisoning occurred in Bishkek.
As a result of the incident, 17 people were affected, including 4 children. Of these, 13 people require hospitalization and are receiving inpatient treatment, while the others are receiving outpatient care.
The first symptoms of poisoning were recorded on January 15. The victims sought help at the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, where they received necessary medical assistance and laboratory tests were conducted.

According to preliminary data, all the victims consumed shawarma.
Specialists from the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Center conducted an unscheduled inspection of the establishment. Samples of ingredients, swabs from kitchen equipment, and remnants of finished products were collected for further laboratory research. The cafe staff was also examined for the presence of intestinal infection pathogens.
As a result of the inspection, three protocols for violations were drawn up, and three decisions were made to impose fines totaling 41,000 soms under articles 80, 214 part 1, and 214 part 5 of the Code of Offenses.
The cafe was closed on January 15, and the pavilion was sealed by order of the sanitary services.
The epidemiological investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be provided as laboratory research results come in.
It should be noted that in the past, during the summer of 2025, more than 20 people were also affected at the fast food restaurant "Daamduu," located at the intersection of Baytik Baatyr and Suerkulov streets, due to consuming shawarma. At that time, the source of poisoning was meat mince.
