On January 15, a case of food poisoning occurred in Bishkek, resulting in 17 people being affected, including 4 children. In connection with this, specialists from the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan have prepared recommendations to prevent food poisoning.
Food poisoning is an acute illness that arises after consuming food containing toxic substances or contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms.
Recommendations for the prevention of food poisoning
For fast food establishments:
- strict adherence to sanitary norms and technological instructions when preparing dishes;
- availability and implementation of quality control programs;
- allowing employees to work only after medical examinations;
- prohibiting workers with symptoms of infectious diseases;
- regular training of employees on hygiene rules;
- using quality raw materials with supporting documents;
- separate storage of raw materials and finished dishes;
- compliance with temperature regimes during storage and preparation;
- sufficient thermal processing of meat and semi-finished products;
- regular cleaning and disinfection of all premises and equipment;
- using separate utensils for raw materials and finished dishes;
- ensuring a constant water supply for handwashing;
- personal responsibility of the owner for product safety.
- choose food establishments with a clean appearance and compliance with sanitary norms;
- avoid purchasing dishes from questionable or mobile points;
- always wash hands before eating, especially outside the home;
- do not recommend fast food to children, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with chronic diseases;
- at the first signs of poisoning, seek medical attention immediately and do not self-medicate.
