Rumors about a conflict between the law enforcement agencies have been labeled as unfounded and aimed at undermining trust in the authorities.
The GKNB noted that "attempts to create an image of confrontation between agencies are destructive in nature and aim to destabilize the socio-political situation." The agency urged citizens, journalists, and public figures to rely on official sources of information and to remain calm.
Events began to unfold on February 10, when Sadyr Japarov signed a decree relieving Kamchybek Tashiev of his duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the GKNB. Subsequently, personnel changes occurred within the agency.
Additionally, structural changes were made. For example, the Border Service was removed from the GKNB.
A State Guard Service under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic was also established based on the 9th service of the GKNB. Following the appointment of a new head of the agency, significant reforms and a return to the core activities of the special services are expected.
