At the last meeting, members of parliament gave the green light for the implementation of a project related to the ratification of an agreement on financing and a grant agreement for the "Phase 1" project under the "One Health" program for the Kyrgyz Republic. This agreement was signed on July 11, 2025, in Bishkek between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association/International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

First Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Zhanibek Kerimaliev previously emphasized that donors will provide a loan of $30 million for the implementation of this project, as well as a grant of $1.79 million.

“This initiative is quite ambitious and aims to improve the health of people and animals, as well as to protect the environment. The first phase of the project includes three key components designed to ensure the establishment and strengthening of the basic capacity of the system under normal conditions, as well as support for critical functions of detection and response to emergencies within the framework of the regional "One Health" program concept. This underscores the importance of the interconnection between these components and the need for a comprehensive approach to addressing global health issues,” noted Kerimaliev.

According to Zhanibek Kerimaliev, the main directions of the project include combating zoonotic infections, preventing antimicrobial resistance, and ensuring food safety.

Members of parliament approved the draft document in the second reading without discussion.
