According to information provided by RBC, the U.S. State Department will suspend the issuance of immigration visas for citizens of 75 countries, including Russia.

The publication on the X platform notes that this decision is related to the fact that migrants from these countries receive "unacceptably high social benefits" at the expense of American taxpayers.

The State Department stated that the restrictions will remain in place until there is confidence that new migrants "will not depend on American resources."

Earlier, Fox News mistakenly reported the suspension of all visas for citizens of these countries, but soon corrected it, clarifying that it only concerns immigration visas.

New measures are expected to take effect on January 21. The restrictions will affect not only Russia but also countries such as Iran, Iraq, Brazil, Egypt, Thailand, and others.

In 2025, the U.S. State Department revoked more than 100,000 visas, including about 8,000 student visas. This number is more than double the number of visas canceled in 2024 under President Joe Biden's administration.
