In 2025, the U.S. State Department revoked over 100,000 visas, of which approximately 8,000 were student visas.

The department's press service reported that such actions are aimed at ensuring national security and will continue in the future.

According to data from Newsweek, the number of revoked visas in 2025 is more than double that of 2024, when Joe Biden was president. The State Department noted that this initiative is part of a comprehensive approach to controlling the entry of foreign nationals.

The revocation of visas and subsequent deportations are linked to the immigration policy developed by President Donald Trump. This policy introduced a number of restrictions for citizens from 12 countries, and additional measures were established for seven countries, including Afghanistan, Haiti, Iran, and Yemen.

Furthermore, the Trump administration significantly reduced the refugee admission quota—from 125,000 to 7,500 people in 2026, which is the lowest figure in the history of this program.

It should be noted that the U.S. presidential administration plans to convert industrial warehouses in several states into centers for holding illegal migrants to expedite their deportation process.
