- The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his address to the leaders of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, identified barrier-free trade as one of the main areas of Kazakhstan's work in the EAEU in 2026.

Tokayev emphasized the need to eliminate administrative barriers. He noted that all artificial obstacles that hinder trade and the development of various sectors, including bans on the movement of citizens and queues of freight transport at borders, should remain in the past.

Moreover, customs regulation and other state control measures, such as sanitary, veterinary, and phytosanitary inspections, should not be used as tools to exert pressure on the governments of EAEU countries.

Within the framework of the EAEU, many documents have already been developed aimed at creating a barrier-free environment. It is important to strictly adhere to the commitments made and prevent violations. This is one of the tasks of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

To more effectively identify potential barriers, it is proposed to use artificial intelligence technologies to monitor legislative initiatives of the member states.

The fifth direction of the presidency is a new trade geography: global dialogue.

This direction will help eliminate existing barriers within the Union, accelerate trade turnover, and enhance the competitiveness of the economies of EAEU countries, including Kyrgyzstan, where barriers at borders and administrative restrictions often affect exports and imports.
