- New rules regarding the import of goods through e-commerce have come into effect in Kyrgyzstan. This was announced on the radio by the Vice President of the E-Commerce Association, Yunus Zairov.

“Previously, before the adoption of the e-commerce law, internet orders were delivered by express carriers. The threshold of 200 euros and 31 kilograms was established after being reduced from 1000 euros at the beginning of this year,” Zairov clarified.

With the introduction of the new e-commerce operator institution, the regulation of goods flows in the field of electronic trade is now being implemented.

“Every individual has the right to import goods into Kyrgyzstan worth no more than 200 euros and weighing up to 31 kilograms per month. If these limits are exceeded, a duty of 5% of the value or 1 euro for each kilogram is charged,” he added.

According to Zairov, the new rules contribute to improving market transparency, which opens doors for international marketplaces in Kyrgyzstan.

“The limits of 200 euros and 31 kilograms per month apply exclusively to goods from third countries that are not EU members, and do not apply to Russia, Belarus, Armenia, and Kazakhstan. Different rules apply to goods from these countries,” Zairov noted.

He also reported that all known marketplaces are registered in Kyrgyzstan and are ready to fulfill tax obligations.

Although full integration of marketplaces with tax and customs services has not yet been achieved, active cooperation among all market participants is planned in the near future.

“The Association aims to unite marketplaces, logistics companies, customs services, tax authorities, and certification departments to make the market more transparent and understandable for everyone,” he concluded.
