Nine new parks will be created in Tashkent, and the area of green spaces will be tripled

In Tashkent, it is planned to create new public parks in nine locations, covering an area of 134 hectares. With this, the area of green spaces in the city and its surroundings will be tripled, reaching 25,000 hectares. This will increase the provision of green spaces to 6 square meters per person, which is double the current level of 3 square meters.

These initiatives were presented to the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during a meeting dedicated to the development of the urban infrastructure of the capital, as reported by the press service of the head of state.

The economy and agglomeration of Tashkent have been actively developing in recent years, and the city's population has already exceeded 3.1 million people. According to experts' forecasts, this figure could double by 2045. This necessitates urbanization processes that correspond to the increased load on housing stock, transport and engineering networks, as well as social infrastructure.

During the meeting, the results of the analysis of 85 construction projects on an area of more than 2.6 hectares were presented. It was important to pay attention to the compliance of these projects with urban planning standards and the presence of green spaces, which should constitute at least 30% of the total built-up area.

As a result of the discussion, it was proposed to approve 18 projects, while 12 projects need further development with changes to the area of land plots, number of floors, and concepts. 54 projects were sent for reconsideration.

Plans for the expansion of the special industrial zone "Yangi Avlod" in the Yangihayot district were discussed separately. The necessity of a phased relocation of large industries from the center of Tashkent and the placement of environmentally safe industries with high added value was emphasized.

According to city authorities, the implementation of the proposed initiatives will lead to an annual additional gross regional product of 1.5 billion dollars. It is expected that budget revenues will exceed 3.5 trillion sums (approximately 287.3 million dollars), and 260,000 new jobs will be created.

In conclusion, Mirziyoyev noted that funds from infrastructure payments for these projects should primarily be directed towards the creation of new green areas, while the remaining funds should be allocated for the construction of urban infrastructure facilities.
