Russia and Turkey consider switching to national currencies in trade

According to information provided by RIA Novosti, the use of national currencies in bilateral trade between Russia and Turkey may help address issues related to bank transfers. However, this will require careful planning.

As previously reported by the Russian embassy in Turkey, Western sanctions have complicated financial transactions between the two countries without any alternatives. In this context, Moscow and Ankara are in constant dialogue to find ways out of the situation. A Turkish source from government agencies stated that, at the moment, state banks have not yet received instructions from the Central Bank of Turkey regarding solutions to the emerging difficulties in transactions with Russia, although payments for state projects continue.

According to the agency's interlocutor, "various options are being explored to resolve this situation arising from the sanctions. The use of national currencies in transactions has been repeatedly raised at the highest levels of leadership, and instructions have been given to study this issue. Some part of trade is already being conducted in national currencies, but this matter requires further in-depth analysis."
