
The incident occurred on January 18 at 00:30 at the 7th border post "Khirmandzho" of the border detachment "Yol," located in the Shamsiddin Shohin area. The militants crossed into Tajik territory from the village of Darbandak, which is in Afghanistan's Badakhshan province.
According to border guards, the terrorists ignored demands to surrender and opened fire, resulting in all four being neutralized during the clash.
There is no information about possible losses among Tajik border guards.
From the scene, the following items were seized: three Kalashnikov rifles, one "Kruz" rifle, six magazines, 183 cartridges, three mobile phones, a radio, and a boat.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under Articles 179 ("Terrorism"), 335 ("Illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of Tajikistan"), and 195 ("Illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, transportation, carrying of weapons and ammunition") of the Criminal Code of Tajikistan. The investigation is ongoing.
The State Committee for National Security assures that the situation at the border with Afghanistan is under control, and all necessary forces and means will be employed to ensure security in the future.
