During the meeting, Berdymukhamedov emphasized that significant results were achieved last year in strengthening the military defense of the country and improving the material and technical base of the armed forces.
As this year Turkmenistan celebrates the 35th anniversary of its independence, the president gave instructions for the preparations for the celebrations.
After that, representatives of the security forces presented their reports on the work done. In particular, the head of the State Border Service, Yazgeldi Nuriyev, reported on the results of his activities and noted that a new border detachment complex "Sarahs" was opened with the direct participation of the president.
As a result of the decisions made, Nuriyev was relieved of his position as head of the Border Service due to his transition to another job, and his place was taken by Deputy Ilaman Ilamanov.
Yazgeldi Nuriyev held the position of commander of the border troops since January 2021, when he was awarded the military rank of colonel. Previously, he also headed the Institute of National Security.
In addition, in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day, celebrated on January 27, the president signed a decree awarding a group of military personnel and employees of the military and law enforcement agencies with medals of Turkmenistan.
