In Kyrgyzstan, a recall of baby formulas under the "Nestlé" brand has begun due to the detection of the toxin cereulide, which can lead to vomiting and diarrhea in young children. This was reported by the Department of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance.

The recall includes dry instant milk, fermented milk, and lactose-free formulas, such as NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN OPTIPRO 2, NAN EXPERTPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, PRENAN, and NAN LACTOSE FREE with specific production dates.

The agency received information about the voluntary recall from the distributor of Nestlé baby food, the company OsOO "Forester".

The reason for the recall was the potential presence of the toxin cereulide in the raw materials, particularly in arachidonic acid. The official distributor has already begun withdrawing the problematic batches from sale in the country.

The Department strongly recommends that consumers check the names and production dates of the formulas. If they match the recalled batches, they should immediately stop using the product and contact the official distributor for its return.

According to the manufacturer, the recall affects only a limited number of batches that may contain the toxin.

Cereulide is a toxin produced by certain strains of the bacterium Bacillus cereus, which is resistant to high temperatures. Symptoms of poisoning can manifest as vomiting and diarrhea, similar to reactions seen in food poisoning or allergies to milk proteins.

Previously, similar batches of Nestlé baby formulas were recalled in other countries, such as Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
