According to information provided by the medical institution, 202 cases (53% of the total number of visits) were related to acute respiratory viral infections.
“Despite the holiday period, the on-duty doctors are working under high load. The number of visits and hospitalizations continues to rise,” the statement noted.
Currently, there are 9 patients in the intensive care unit, 8 of whom are children. All have been diagnosed with complicated forms of ARVI, such as respiratory failure, bronchial obstruction, pneumonia, and acute stenosing laryngotracheitis.
“We hospitalize everyone based on medical indications; refusals are not considered. Treatment and examination are covered by the hospital,” the doctors added.
In light of the current epidemiological situation regarding ARVI and influenza, the RKIB recommends:
- contact your family doctor at the first signs of ARVI;
- avoid large gatherings of people;
- do not visit closed children's play areas;
- go to the hospital only on recommendations from the CSM.
Doctors strongly advise against self-medication. When experiencing a fever, many patients start taking antibiotics, but if unsure about treatment, it is better to consult your family doctor.
