Nestle Food has announced a voluntary recall of certain batches of baby food sold in Uzbekistan. The recall affects dry instant milk and fermented milk formulas. This decision was prompted by the detection of a potential risk of the toxin cereulide in raw materials from a third-party supplier, as reported on the company's Telegram channel.

The published information lists the batch numbers that will be withdrawn from sale. The recall concerns products from several brands, including NAN 1 OPTIPRO, NAN 2 OPTIPRO, NAN fermented milk, NAN Supreme, and ALFARE Amino.

As noted by the company, although the toxin levels are minimal and there are no regulations in Uzbekistan regarding its levels in food products, a limited recall of baby food began on January 5 of this year as part of Nestle's global initiative to reduce risks.

Additionally, Nestle Food has notified local regulatory authorities and is ready to provide them and customers with up-to-date information about its actions in the Uzbek market. Customers who have purchased potentially hazardous products can return them by following the procedures established by the company.

It is important to emphasize that the recall concerns only a limited number of batches of baby formulas, while other products and other Nestle items will continue to be available for sale in stores in Uzbekistan.

It is also worth noting that similar measures were previously taken by the company in Kazakhstan, where the recall was also due to the possible presence of the toxin cereulide in several batches of products. It is known that similar actions were carried out in Russia and in several European countries.

Cereulide is a toxin that does not break down when boiling or reheating food. Its entry into the body can lead to acute food poisoning, which manifests symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
