Safflower oil production has been launched in the Sokuluk district

Processing waste is used for animal feed

Production of safflower oil has begun in the Sokuluk district, initiated by the Kyrgyz State Breeding Farm. This project aims to develop processing and effective use of the cake obtained during production in animal husbandry.

The launch of production became possible thanks to funding from the district development fund, which provided for the purchase of necessary equipment. Now the farm can carry out a full cycle of work—from growing safflower to obtaining the final product in the form of vegetable oil.

Experts estimate the average yield of safflower at about one ton per hectare; however, with adherence to all agronomic standards, this figure can reach up to five tons. The oil yield is 40%, making this crop attractive for processing.

In the lower part of the Sokuluk district, there are about 50 thousand hectares of arable land, most of which is classified as rainfed land. Safflower is seen as a more profitable alternative to traditional grain crops.

Future plans include expanding arable land, attracting farmers and dehkan farms, as well as developing processing and entering the market with finished products.
