According to the agency, the arrest of the two individuals was the result of a criminal case initiated by the GKNB in December 2024 under part 3 of article 337 "Abuse of official position" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Considering that the crime was committed before amendments were made to the Criminal Code regarding the tightening of penalties for corruption, they were tried under the previous version, which allows for fines in case of admission of guilt and entering into a procedural agreement with compensation for damages.
During the investigation, A. A. K. and other defendants fully admitted their guilt and paid 4 billion 307 million soms to the state budget as compensation for damages.It is noted that the defendants' confessions contributed to the uncovering of a stable corruption scheme in the tax service, which involved employees of the tax audit department and other officials. This, in turn, allowed for the tax and insurance contributions plan for 2025 to be exceeded by 40 billion soms more than established.
The investigation into other participants in the case is ongoing. Detailed information about its progress and the measures taken will be provided later.
