Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, announced at a press conference at the "Kabar" agency that kokpar will be included in the program of the VI World Nomad Games.
He noted that equestrian disciplines hold a key place in these Games, as they attract the most attention from both spectators and the media.
“The decision to include kokpar, along with kok-boru, in the program of the VI WNG has been made. We always emphasize that sports are outside of politics, and our goal is to promote ethnoculture and ethnosport. Our teams will also participate in the kokpar competitions,” he stated.
He also added that the format of the kok-boru competitions will remain the same, without club divisions.
Additionally, Nursultan Adenov, head of the International Secretariat of the World Nomad Games, announced the inclusion of national wrestling styles from the peoples of Yakutia and Buryatia in the program.
“These peoples show a keen interest in the Games, and one of the largest delegations will come from Russia,” he noted.
