A resident of the Maidan Aiyl Aimak, located in the Kadamjay District of the Batken Region, Nargiza Kushanova has drawn public attention with her impressive feat. She managed to catch a wolf alive, demonstrating skill in setting a trap.

In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, Nargiza shared that her love for predators began in childhood. Frequent trips to the summer pastures with her father taught her to recognize wolf tracks and understand their behavior.

“From a young age, I often accompanied my father on his trips to high-altitude pastures where we herded livestock. I had no fear of wolves or other wild animals. During horseback rides, we constantly encountered predators. I was never scared; on the contrary, I was always curious about which direction they went and where they were headed. I often followed their tracks,” she recalls.

Nargiza noted that catching a wolf is not such an easy task. This predator is very cautious, and the slightest mistake by the hunter can lead to dangerous consequences. “The wolf that appeared in the video was caught by me about 3-4 years ago, and I accomplished the task in just one day. At that time, wolves were frequently attacking livestock in the summer pastures. I followed its trail, identified the path, and set the trap so that it remained unnoticed: I buried it in the ground and covered it with a thin layer of soil. In the evening, I returned home, and the next morning, after the morning prayer, I went to check the trap. When I approached the site, I found that the trap was gone—it was clear that the wolf had been caught and dragged it away with it,” she said.

According to her, the animal's tracks left near the water helped to track it down. “When I returned home, I informed my family about catching the wolf, and we all headed to the location of its capture together. I pressed the predator's head to the ground with a special fork-like stick while my brother-in-law threw a loop around its mouth. That’s how we managed to catch the wolf alive,” Nargiza shares.

Additionally, she clarified that the wolf's behavior depends on which paw got caught in the trap. If it’s a hind paw, the wolf will desperately try to break free. However, if a front paw is caught in the trap, it has almost no chance of escaping.
