Ulanbek Beishenbaev, the director of the Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the mayor's office, announced plans to implement new dedicated lanes for public transport in Bishkek. In 2025, a pilot project was launched on Akhunbaev Street, covering the section from Ch. Aitmatov Avenue to Abdrakhmanov Street, which will continue this year.

Currently, the possibility of creating dedicated lanes on Tokombaev Street (Southern Highway), Abdrakhmanov Street, and Jibek Jolu Avenue is being considered.

According to Beishenbaev, these lanes will be part of a broader transport reform and will be implemented alongside the optimization of the route network. The main task is to separate public transport from the general flow of cars, which should help reduce traffic jams.

“As of today, there is no significant difference between traveling in a personal car and a bus: both types of transport are stuck in traffic. Therefore, creating separate lanes for public transport is a necessity,” he noted.
