Bishkek Transport Department: As part of optimization, bus routes will be redistributed

The central streets of the city are overloaded

This summer, Bishkek plans to redistribute bus routes for optimization purposes. The Transport Department has announced upcoming changes that will affect both residents of the capital and its guests.

The planned changes are set to take effect this summer season.

According to department representatives, as part of the optimization, the route network of the city will be reviewed, including lines passing through central areas, covering sections from Kyiv Street to Abdrahmanov Street. As a result of the redistribution, the route lines will also cover secondary streets that are currently not served by public transport.

Currently, central streets such as Abdrahmanov Street and Ch. Aitmatov Avenue are experiencing heavy traffic due to the increase in the number of routes. The department noted that there should be no more than ten routes on the central and main streets of Bishkek to avoid congestion and overloads.

Additionally, the department reminded about the arrival of new "Zontong" buses in Bishkek.

Currently, route projects are being developed to be redistributed in a way that covers more previously unused streets, such as Mederov, Toktogul, Zh. Pudovkin, and L. Tolstoy Streets.

Some argue that there will be no way to reach distant points from the microdistricts, but this is not true. For example, route No. 9 runs across the entire city, and instead of spending more time traveling on this route, one can transfer to a direct or circular route.

It should be noted that the optimization will not affect the entire route network, but only a part of it. Some routes will remain unchanged after monitoring and timing are completed.

The optimization process has already begun, but the main work on changing the route schemes is scheduled for the beginning of the summer season, when the number of cars and passengers in the city decreases, making it easier to implement changes.

Let us remind you that over the past three years, the Bishkek city hall has eliminated minibuses and trolleybuses in the city center. In return, the authorities promise to create a new tram network according to the new master plan.
