"Early" deputies are silent about the early presidential elections

Recently elected members of the Jogorku Kenesh have actively taken on their responsibilities, dealing with issues related to the registration of Kyrgyz horses and discussing alternative service. They are also engaged in debates about the right to criticize deputies. However, the most pressing issue—the upcoming presidential elections—remains inadequately discussed.

Many have already expressed their opinions on early presidential elections, from politicians to lawyers. Some oppose early elections, others support them, while some try to take a neutral stance, presenting arguments both for and against. Remembering that the 2021 elections were also held early, it can be noted that this was due to an emergency situation, but observers noted their organization and the absence of significant violations. The current government should, in theory, be able to conduct elections at an even higher level, and the question of whether the date of the elections will affect the situation in the country remains open.

The debate surrounding the elections has also involved representatives of civil society and the media. While some journalists cover events in a balanced manner, others actively criticize the government, raising questions about Sadyr Japarov's right to run for a second term. For example, the publication "Kaktus" delicately hints that the president does not deserve a second term, referring to statements made by his opponents.

Some critics portray Japarov as a usurper, ignoring facts that confirm the legality of his actions. Changes to the Constitution, for instance, were made to improve the governance of the country. Over the past five years, Kyrgyzstan has achieved significant progress, and Japarov's right to run for a second term is justified and legal; however, the opposition still cannot come to terms with this.

Journalists from "Azattyk" are also actively speaking out against the government, accusing it of usurpation. They claim that the current leaders do not care about the people and seek to remain in power for as long as possible. However, despite the accusations, many facts indicate that both Japarov and his team possess empathy and a desire for reforms aimed at the welfare of the people.

The recent reform in the area of driver's licenses has also come under criticism. Some accuse the president of not having the right to run for a second term because of this reform. However, such logic seems strange: wouldn't it be better to prepare in advance for driving to avoid accidents and save lives? The reform has long been overdue, and instead of criticism, the opposition could propose their own alternatives.

Some deputies apparently decided that criticizing the reform would help them gain popularity among the people, but instead of constructive discussion, they merely express dissatisfaction, showing loyalty to the opposition. Meanwhile, the new parliament is predominantly made up of pro-presidential candidates.

Sadyr Japarov noted that deputies should study issues comprehensively and not rush to accusations if the government is indeed making mistakes. However, there has been no open discussion regarding the elections and reforms, even though this is a matter of public concern.

Kyrgyzstan is a presidential republic, and the decision regarding the elections of the head of state is made by the current president according to the Constitution. Nevertheless, the Jogorku Kenesh should support him in this decision.
