Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu proposed to develop trade and economic ties
During his official visit to Turkey, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu met with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. This was reported by the parliament's press service.
The parties discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral relations and the main directions for deepening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. Turgunbek uulu conveyed greetings from the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and emphasized the importance of close interaction at the highest level to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
He also noted that the upcoming state visit of Erdoğan to Kyrgyzstan in 2024 would be a significant event, opening a new chapter in strategic cooperation. The Speaker expressed Kyrgyzstan's interest in actively developing all areas of interaction and confirmed the parliament's readiness to support the implementation of the agreements reached.
Significant attention was paid to cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries. Turgunbek uulu reminded about the joint activities within the Organization of Turkic States and TurkPA, and also announced the upcoming TurkPA meeting scheduled to take place in Bishkek this year.
The Speaker also noted that this was his first official visit since his appointment, symbolizing the closeness of the Kyrgyz and Turkish peoples. He proposed ideas for developing trade and economic relations and appealed to the President of Turkey for political support for joint projects.
In turn, Erdoğan expressed confidence that this visit would serve as a new impetus for the development of bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of fraternal and strategic ties with Kyrgyzstan.
