Today, February 18, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, held a meeting with Members of the European Parliament, led by Giuseppina Princi, Chair of the Delegation for Relations with Central Asia.
The delegation included members from various countries: Giuseppina Princi (Italy), Sven Simon (Germany), Thierry Mariani (France), Antonin Stanek (Czech Republic), Christian Vigenin (Bulgaria), Tomas Frolich (Germany), Chiara Gemma (Italy), and Jussi Saramo (Finland).
The main topic of discussion was the prospects for expanding cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union, including issues related to human rights protection, freedom of speech, and strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.
Sadyr Japarov emphasized that cooperation with the European Union is one of the key priorities of the country's foreign policy and expressed readiness for further development of relations.
The President noted the significance of the upcoming meeting of the Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh and the European Parliament as one of the most effective tools for dialogue.
“We attach great importance to inter-parliamentary interaction, as it allows for open exchanges of views on domestic and foreign issues,” he noted.
In response, Giuseppina Princi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the opportunity to discuss important aspects. She noted the progress in relations between the European Union and the Kyrgyz Republic.
The delegates highlighted the positive changes in Kyrgyzstan over the past few years, noting achievements in socio-economic development and modernization of public administration.
Members of the delegation also confirmed their intention to continue constructive dialogue, emphasizing the importance of developing educational ties, including student exchange programs and creating new opportunities for youth.
As a result of the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to further cooperation in priority areas of mutual interest.
President Sadyr Japarov added that Kyrgyzstan is always open to new partnerships and views this meeting as an important step towards strengthening sustainable relations with the European Union.
