Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has extended sanctions against Russia for one more year, which were imposed in response to aggression in Ukraine. These restrictions came into effect in 2014, 2018, and 2022, as reported by "Meduza," citing information from the Federal Register of the United States.

In the document signed on February 18, it is noted that the actions of the Russian authorities continue to pose a serious threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.

Thus, Washington has decided to extend the sanctions, despite ongoing trilateral negotiations in which it acts as a mediator to achieve peace in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Additionally, on February 17, The Economist published an article about the "greatest deal" that was allegedly proposed by Russia in exchange for lifting the sanctions. The discussion of the agreement involved the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation, Kirill Dmitriev, and the U.S. special envoy, Steve Whitcoff. Dmitriev denied the information from The Economist, calling it a "fake leak."
