The diplomatic agency expressed deep concern regarding the current situation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan made a statement regarding the recent incident involving tankers in the Black Sea. Information about this was posted on the official website of the agency.
Diplomats emphasized serious concern over the attack that occurred on January 13, 2026. Drones attacked three tankers heading to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) marine terminal.
During meetings with ambassadors from several European countries, as well as with representatives from the United States and other international partners, Kazakhstan highlighted the need for effective measures to ensure the safety of hydrocarbon transportation, including maritime routes, and adherence to international law.
Kazakhstan, it was noted, is not a participant in any armed conflict and actively contributes to global and European energy security by providing stable energy resource supplies in accordance with international standards. All tankers mentioned in the incident had the necessary permits and were equipped with identification systems.
The increase in such incidents underscores the growing risks to international energy infrastructure. In this regard, Kazakhstan calls on international partners to cooperate in developing joint measures aimed at preventing such situations in the future," said Erlan Zhetybaev, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
