At the meeting of the ЖК, Deputy Umbetaly Kydyraiev raised the issue of the lack of drinking water in several new residential areas that were annexed to Bishkek.

According to Kydyraiev, during the administrative-territorial reform, residential areas "Muras-Ordo," "Salkyn," as well as the village of Ozyornoye, which is home to about 15,000 people, and the residential area "Ak-Bosogo" with a population of around 20,000 were added to the capital. "Providing the population with drinking water is a fundamental right," he emphasized. According to him, 90% of Bishkek residents have access to clean water, but the new developments remain without the necessary water supply. "The lack of water can lead to serious consequences, even life-threatening situations," the deputy added.

This comment was responded to by the director of the State Institution "Development of Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater" Azamat Shadmanov, who pointed out that the responsibility for water supply lies with local self-government. He noted that their institution is working on various projects and programs to provide the population with water and that plans are already in place to address this issue.
